Joe - The Prospective Volunteer

 

Age: 21

Nonmarried, undergraduate college student with no children who lives on-campus in a dorm, and with parents at home. Works a retail job part time.

 

Personality: Joe is tech-friendly, and he loves video games and watching sports. He is a social and outgoing studet who loves being around his friends. He enjoys healthy competition and taking on challenges.

 

Job measured: Maintaining passing grades, building up a strong resume, maintaining social life and school/work/life balance. He often compares himself to others, and likes to strive to be the best. 

 

Success means: Graduating college. A solid resume that makes him look good. Getting high grades on assignments and good GPA is his man goal as a college student. Maintaining a social life and his parent’s appreciation are also key. He reports to his parents, teachers and his boss at work so he's concerned with his performance and believes being as or more succesful than his peers in important.

 

Values most: Family and friends. Joe needs free time to spend with his friends, and treasures finding a balance between school work and his relationships. He likes games and challenges; he likes to play video games because winning makes him feel good.

 

Biggest challenge: Joe's workload is a big stress factor for him. His work/life/school balance motivates him to make the most of his time, while that isn't always easy. As a student, he's concerned that he isn't doing enough for his resume. He compares himself to his peers successes to gauge how well he is doing.

 

Biggest objections: Appearance, not looking dumb/immature, keeping up with peers, liability. Doesn't like to lose.

 

Preferred Communication: Texting, online messenger, email. Heavy user of social media.
