Research Overview: Our current research focuses on characterization of toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics of endogenous chemicals and xenobiotics, especially the mechanistic roles of nuclear receptors (including AhR, CAR, PXR, PPARa, FXR, and Nrf2) and drug transporters (such as Mdrs, Mrps, and Oatps) in the disposition and action of drugs and nutrients. Our laboratory is currently investigating: 1) the mode of action of toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics of perfluorochemicals, heavy metals and chemotherapeutic drugs, 2) the mechanistic roles of nuclear receptors and drug transporters in the modes of action of herbal medicine, 3) mechanistic investigation of psychoactive drugs, and 4) the pharmacological/toxicological investigation of fibroblast growth factor (Fgf) 21.
