One of the main demographics that citizens never hear from discussing current events are Minority Cops. On my website I have had the unique privilege to interview a few minority cops and hear what they have to say about police and citizen issues. Today we really are rarely exposed to this demographic of people despite the intense current events that fills our twitter feds and flashes on the news every few days. Tensions are high and problems are being raised, but what about minority cops? What opinions do they have when it comes to issues such as ferguson, Eric garner and other current events? Through-out my research I have connected with two different things on this site. I address the lack of information we have on minority cops and attempt to gather and report on as much information on them as I can. At the same time in the next tab I also discuss were I’m going with all of my statistic information about minority interaction as well.

About the Background: The coin you see in the background sports different south asian flags- it’s a DESI society coin that represents a multitude of South Asian Americans in the New York City Police Department. When I discuss minority cops most people imagine black officers, but minorities represented in the NYPD are just as diverse as the multitude of races that we have all throughout New York. The coin in the background is one of many challenge coins that NYPD officer trade in state and across the country. The range to coins about racial societies/ fraternities within the police community as well as coins honoring fallen officers, the twin towers and other representative coins. I choice this coin because it’s representative of a police demographic that not many are aware of.
