Metropolitan Museum acquired the exclusive limited-edition book Bicentenario de La Constitución del Tribunal Supremo del Reino De España. This book memorializes the graphic works of Ibero-American art and associated events, which were commissioned by the Spanish government to celebrate 200 Years of the High Supreme Court of Spain. The book was published in 2012 by Thomson Reuters Aranzadi. This book’s addition into the Metropolitan Library collection followed the extensive efforts of:

H.E. Rosalía Arteaga, President of FIDAL Foundation, Member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia Britannica, Member of the Board of Directors of the Library of Alexandria in Egypt, Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Europe, and Former President of Ecuador

Mr. Vicente Alcaraz García, Representative of the Government and the Supreme Court of Spain; University of Alicante, Spain curator of the Spanish government’s pertinent graphic Ibero-American artwork collection and

Inés Monica Sarmiento-Archer, Co/curator and project coordinator. Director of

Bi/Coa: base Iberoamerican / Community of the Two Americas, Member of The Queens Council on the Arts Junior Board (QCAJB), and Adjunct Professor at St John’s University/Adelphi University, Hofstra University.

Iincludes the work of the following Ibero-American artists: José Luís Cuevas (Mexico), Fernando de Szyszlo (Peru), José María Yturralde (Spain), Rodolfo Abularach (Guatemala), Oswaldo Vigas (Venezuela), Carlos Colombino (Paraguay), Carlos Cañas (El Salvador), Alberto Carneiro (Portugal), Omar d’León (Nicaragua), Mónica Sarmiento-Castillo (Ecuador), Antonio Samudio (Colombia), Rosa Tavárez (Dominican Republic) Armando Lara (Honduras), Miguel Herrera Zorrilla (Uruguay), Luis Hernández Cruz (Puerto Rico), Enrique Ubieta (Cuba), Olga Sinclair (Panama), Rafaerl Felo García (Costa) Rica), Don Archer (USA), Leopoldo Maler (Argentina), Julio Villani (Brazil), Iván Contreras Brunet (Chile). The book also includes studies by important art critics: Gerard Xuriguera, Roman de la Calle, Marianne de Tolentino and Bélgica Rodríguez. The edition was directed by Vicente Alcaraz-García.

We believe that this book will be a useful historical and artistic reference for an event which symbolized and reflected the ongoing integration of Ibero-American culture and art. Also, this book and the graphics work are part of the collection of works of art of the Royal House of Spain.
