Born and educated in France, as an adolescent I fell in love with the English language and with English and American literature and became an English major at the University of Nantes (lower Brittany).

After a stint as a  French T.A. in London, England, where I met my husband to be  -a New Yorker- I left France and relocated to these shores, switching my specialty in the process to pursue a Ph.D. in French, rediscovering, with new eyes, the great literature and culture  of my native country .

I have taught at St. John's since 1989, joining the Department of Languages and Literatures, first as an adjunct in the French Program of the department until 2000, then as director of the language laboratory until 2010, and currently as director of the Global Language and Culture Center.
